Strategically located facility connects regional shippers to efficient rail and truck transportation options

PARK HILLS, Mo., December 9, 2025

Capital Railroad Contracting, Inc. today announced the opening of a new transloading hub at its Park Hills office located at 402 Parkway Dr, Park Hills, MO 63601. The facility is designed to give shippers across southeast Missouri flexible access to rail and truck transportation, helping them move freight more efficiently and cost-effectively.

Situated in the heart of St. Francois County’s historic Lead Belt, Park Hills serves as a regional transportation hub at the intersection of U.S. Highway 67, Missouri Highway 8 and Missouri Highway 32, providing direct connectivity to Interstate 55 and the greater St. Louis region. This central location positions the new transloading hub to serve a wide range of industries, including mining, aggregates, construction materials, agriculture and manufacturing throughout southeast Missouri and the broader Midwest.

“Many shippers in this region don’t have direct rail access at their facilities, but they still want the cost and capacity advantages that rail provides,” said Aaron Vollrath, President, Capital Railroad Contracting. “Our Park Hills transloading hub bridges that gap. Customers can truck product into the site, load to rail, or do the reverse – whatever makes their supply chain faster, safer and more economical.”

Transloading allows freight to be transferred between different modes of transportation, typically between rail cars and trucks. This approach offers shippers several key benefits:

  • Cost savings: Use rail for the long-haul portion of a move and trucks for first and final mile delivery, reducing overall transportation spend.
  • Greater reach: Access rail capacity and markets without the need to build and maintain a private rail spur.
  • Flexibility: Adjust shipment size, frequency and direction based on changing demand, seasonal volumes or project timelines.
  • Operational efficiency: Consolidate or deconsolidate loads, manage inventory closer to end users and reduce congestion at plants or job sites.
  • Sustainability benefits: Shift more ton-miles to rail, which can reduce fuel consumption and emissions compared to all-truck moves.

The Park Hills transloading hub is designed to handle a variety of bulk and packaged commodities, such as aggregates, lumber, steel, industrial materials and other project freight needed to support regional infrastructure and industrial growth. Capital Railroad Contracting’s experienced railroad construction, maintenance and bridge crews will support safe, efficient operations at the site.

“From day one, our goal with this hub has been simple: make it easier for our customers to do business in this region,” added Vollrath.“By combining our field expertise with a strategically located transload facility, we’re giving shippers another tool to keep projects on schedule and freight moving.”

For local communities, the new facility is expected to help local businesses grow, attract new investment and jobs, and reinforce Park Hills’ role as a regional center for commerce and opportunity.

Shippers, project owners and logistics providers interested in utilizing the Park Hills transloading hub can contact Capital Railroad Contracting to discuss specific commodities, lane opportunities and service options.
